Determining basal and bolus rates plus the operation of insulin pumps and glucose sensors can seem overwhelming. Dr. Diana Isaacs will provide participants with a step-by-step approach to determine basal rates, bolus ratios, and how to problem-solve when blood glucose levels aren’t on target. Included is a discussion on DKA recognition and an explanation of the safe use of technology in the hospital setting. She will discuss the features of available technologies, basic functions, and how to integrate these into our practice. She will review the benefits, considerations and critical information to share with clients and providers.
In addition, Dr. Isaacs will describe the cardiovascular risk factors associated with diabetes. She will highlight how to incorporate the ADA CV Risk Reduction standards into practice with careful consideration of available pharmacologic interventions.
