Diabetes Education Services is committed to promoting inclusion in our educational offerings and fostering a diverse group of healthcare professionals to achieve diabetes certification.

We recognize, respect, and include differences in ability, age, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, size, and socioeconomic characteristics In all of our content and resources.
Our goal is to promote equity and access for those on the path to certification and for people living with diabetes, while acknowledging historical and institutional inequities.
We are committed to practicing cultural humility and cultivating our cultural competence.
We wish to create a safe space within our community where one’s beliefs, experiences, identity, and differences in ability, age, size, socio-cultural/socioeconomic characteristics, and political affiliations are considered and respected.
As part of our commitment to IDEA, we will:
- Offer at least 4 Educational Scholarships a year to future educators with financial needs who provide care in underserved areas as part of the DiabetesEd Bridge Scholar Program.
- Integrate social determinants of health and the IDEA framework into our content which includes, our webinars, media, blogs, and newsletters to address health inequities and propose strategies for change.
- Make sustaining contributions to local organizations (Northern California) that promote IDEA and serve our community.
- Participate in ongoing education and training and attend at least one course or read at least one book yearly to increase our understanding of social disparities, equity, and their intersections with health care.
