I just wanted to take a minute and send you a note to say “Thank You!”  I took my CDCES certification exam on August 17^th and I passed.  I decided to become a CDCES about 3 years ago and I found your online courses.  Your classes helped me begin to understand the practice of diabetes education.  I loved your enthusiasm and person-centered approach and  I began applying things I learned from you to my own practice.  A couple of weeks before the exam, I took your boot camp class.  I listened to the classes over and over and I read the Standards of Care until I knew them by heart.  I was so nervous when I took the exam, but I heard your calming voice in my head.  I was able to recognize “juicy answers” and I stood up to stretch every 25 questions. 

I had hoped to come to your in-person event earlier this year, but COVID changed that.  I will continue to enjoy your newsletters and I use many of your resources.  The providers I work with love your medication pocket cards.  Thank you again for the valuable services you provide. 

Caring for people with diabetes is an amazing job, one that I feel blessed to do.  I appreciate you helping me in my journey to become a CDCES.

CDEs Get Ready for a New Name in 2020

Starting in 2020, CDE’s will go from being Certified Diabetes Educators to our new name: Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (CDCES). To keep aligned with the AADE’s new Project Vision, the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) is also changing their organization name and the test name.

The NCBDE will now be the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE). The CDE exam will be called the CDCES Exam. Current CDEs don’t have to worry about losing their certification – the NCBDE will transition current CDEs to Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (CDCES) as they renew.
