How do I become a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES^®)?

According to the National Certification Board for Diabetes Education (NCBDE) you need to meet the following criteria:

Have your professional license for at least 2 years as a RN, RD, PT, PharmD, PA, MD (and others)
Accumulate 1000 hours of diabetes self-management teaching experience to take the CDCES^® exam
Need to complete 15 hours of diabetes related continuing education within 2 years of taking the exam.

Level 2 – Beyond Fundamentals

My goal is to become a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist^® (CDCES^®*) within the next year!

I am a nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or other healthcare professional
I currently provide diabetes education to patients

Level 3 – Ready to Take CDCES^® Exam Now

I currently provide diabetes education to patients

Level 4 – Advanced Level and BC-ADM
